I was going on a peaceful jog, a rarity in India, when a man started talking to me. He could only say a few words, but was able to invite me to his farm.

He introduced me to his family, and after a few minutes I left. He asked for twenty rupees, for his kids to go to school. It was difficult constantly being asked for money, a headache, and I never got used to it. At times it can seem to tourists that the people do not have dignity, but someone pointed out that in their religion, like many others I suppose, it's a very good deed to give to the poor, and they are being nice by giving you the opportunity to give to them. I don't fully understand it, but I understand that there is a cultural gap, and that's why all the begging bothers me so much, my failure to adapt.
