I took an overnight train and arrived in Jaisalmer early in the morning. Though he had no nice rooms available, the guest house workers let me hang out there and watch the sunrise. It was freezing and they brought me a blanket.

Some guys with turbaned hanging out on the street.

There is a set of five Havelis, all on the right. A haveli is a fancy house designed with an open space in the middle, to allow good air circulation.

This shows the huge fort at Jaisalmer. Many people live inside the fort complex (in houses), and one night I stayed in a hotel that was part of the outer wall of the fort. There are many hotels that are built into the fort wall.

Pictures from the desert safari. The desert had very little sand. It was mostly dry grassland. There was one set of sand dunes, and that is where we spent the night and watched the sunset.
