Regular street in Cochin.

School girls, excited to see a foreigner. It looks like about ten of them were able to get onto this auto-rickshaw.

Boat trip. Beautiful but somewhat boring.

A red pineapple. We saw just a few of these on the boat ride, but I was never fast enough to get a good picture. However, keeping on the lookout gave me and everyone else on the boat who knew I wanted a picture something to do.

On the boat trip, we got to see natives making rope. How incredibly boring. :)

Garbage burning in the street.

Ginger preparation. This is something like a factory that prepares ginger. Here, you can see it in different states of the process. Some is kept in the shade, some in the sun.

A theater performance, where faces are painted. You can arrive early to watch the painting. I did come early, but do not recommend it.

There used to be a substantial Jewish population in town, though now there are only a few Jews left. None of the Jews are Indian people.

From this painting and others that I saw the synagogue, it seems the Jews and the Indians had a good relationship. Here the Maharajah (prince or king) is giving a golden crown for the torah to the synagogue.

Me and a very friendly woman I met on the train and stayed with in Cochin, Thora (from Iceland). She owns a Youth Hostel in Iceland.
